The County Recreation Department is responsible for the upkeep of parks and facilities and for recreation programs being conducted at 17 different locations within the county.

The department conducts programs for all ages throughout the year, including an after school program for children of working parents; lessons in karate, guitar, and line dancing; gymnastics classes; a homework center; tennis, art, and music camps in addition to sports programs for stinger football, flag football, pre-school basketball and soccer, T-ball, T-shirt baseball, girls softball, adult softball, and punt, pass, and kick competition.

The department also sponsors annual Easter Egg Hunts, Christmas Card contests, Christmas in the Park, and Music in the Park as well as summer day camps.

Ta-Bo Classes:
This program runs year round. Held on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s beginning at 8:00pm
at the Union County Recreation Department. Wade Hampton is the Instructor. A monthly fee will be charged.

Open Gym Play to the Public:

The Union County Recreation Department is open to the public for open gym play on Monday’s, Wednesday’s, and Friday’s from 9:OOam-12:OOpm unless there are any camps or other activities going on which would interfere with open gym. The Gym will also be closed to the public on any County Holiday if held on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday.
