JAKES Event/Public Safety Day/Kids Fun Day
The event is sponsored by the Union Couty Recreation Department, US Forest Service, Piedmont Chapter of the National Turkey Federation, City of Union, City of Union Building/Zoning, S.C. Department of Natural Resources, and the City of Union Public Safety Dept. The event hours are from 8:00am-12:00noon at Foster Park. Pre-Registration Forms are available at the agencies listed above. Children of all ages are welcome to register. They must register in order to receive lunch and prize tickets. Children will receive a Free Lunch provided by the Public Safety Department with their lunch ticket. Don't forget to bring your fishing gear to fish around the lake. All children should be accompanied by an adult. Adults must have child/children with them in order to fish. There will also be many more activities for the children to enjoy. Bring the whole family out for one of the Best time you will ever have. Everything is free of charge. But remember that the JAKES EVENT is for the children. On behalf of all the agencies responsible for this event we hope to see you there!

Saturday, June 2, 2007: Summer Rise Run/Walk 5K 2007
The event is sponsored by the Union County Recreation Department and The Brat Pack Running Club of Union. The 5K Run/Walk will be held on June 2, 2007 at 8:00am beginning at the Union County Family YMCA. There is a registration fee of $15.00 per person before May 21. After May 21 the entry ee will be $20.00. Groups of 10 or more will be $10.00 each. Entry fee includes a t-shirt for each participant. We have more than 10 age divisions and awards will be presented in each age division. We are also hosting a Kids Fun Run beginning at 9:15am at the YMCA. Thee will be a $10.00 entry fee for each child participating. All entry fees are non-refundable. Race Day Registration begins at 7:30am at the YMCA. For safety reasons, no bikes, skateboards, rollerblades or inline skates. Registration forms can be picked up at the Union County Recreation Department.
June 18-22: Summer Gymnastics Camp @ the Union County Recreation Dept Facility
We are offering Pre-School, Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced and Cheernastics Classes. Times and fees are to be announced.
June 25-29: Union County High School Cheerleading Kiddie Camp
The Cheerleading Camp is held at the Union County Recreation Department Facility. The hours are 9:00am-12:00pm and is for ages 4-12 years old. Registration Fees are to be announced.
July
July 4th Beach Music and Firework Festival:
The event is sponsored by the Union County Recreation Department and the City of Union and is held every year on July 4th at Foster Park. The East Coast Band will be the Beach Band scheduled this year. We invite everyone to bring their lawn chairs, blankets and their dancing shoes to listen to some Top Beach Music Hits and dance the night away. Be prepared for the biggest and most extravagant firework display in Union County. Everyone is Welcome. No fee is charged. Just Fun!!!
