Union County, South Carolina is located in the Upstate Region of South Carolina - 30 minutes from Spartanburg and approximately 1 hour from Columbia, Greenville, and Charlotte, North Carolina.

The major highway through Union County is U.S. 176 which connects the County with Intestate 85, 30 minutes to the west, and Intestate 26, 40 minutes to the east.  Highways also connect the County to Intestate 26,  30 minutes south and Intestate 77 is accessible 40 minutes to the west near Chester, South Carolina.

Residents have access to commercial airports within a 1 hour drive to Charlotte-Douglas International Airport to the north which offers over 500 daily flights and serves as a hub for USAirways.  Greenville-Spartanburg International, 40 minutes to the west; and Columbia Metropolitan, one hour east, both offer over 100 daily flights with most connecting through Atlanta and Charlotte.

Union County is within a 1 hour drive of the Blue Ridge Mountains to the west, and within 3 hours of the Atlantic Coast, including the popular vacation resort areas of Charleston, Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head Island.
